Mask Making Madness to Benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk
On September 5, the Ghent Business Association will begin the Fourth Annual Mask Making in Ghent event. Once again, we are asking local artists, would-be artists, self-proclaimed creative people and anyone else to participate in a mask-making competition. The completed entries will be displayed allowing the public to view and cast ballots for the best mask. There will be monetary prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in both a student and adult category. Mask templates will be sold at Garden Gazebo located at 729 West 21st Street, next to Panera Bread. “Mask Making Madness” ends on October 28, 2011 at Masquerade in Ghent where cash prizes will be awarded and the masks will be auctioned. Proceeds from the 2011 auction will go to this year’s Ghent non-profit of choice, the Ronald McDonald House. All finished masks must be submitted no later than October 18. They will then become part of an exhibit at the Harbor Gallery that will kick off on October 21 with a wine and cheese party. The masks will remain on display until October 28 where the public can cast votes for the People’s Choice Award in each category.
Cash Prizes will be awarded at the Masquerade in Ghent on October 28, 2011.
Adult Prizes: 1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $125,
Adult People’s Choice Award - $250.
Student Prizes: 1st - $200, 2nd - $100, 3rd - $50
